I know a lot of parents who would absolutely LOVE to match their little one, and I think it would be the cutest thing to have a parent matching their little with the style of clothing that we sell. But creating matching outfits for adults and children is not as easy as it sounds. It sounds like we would just make the exact same thing but smaller, however there is a ton of regulations around clothes for kids.
Teeny tiny littles can't be around buttons, there are certain regulations for fabrics for pajamas, regulations on drawstrings for kids 12 and under, etc. And every piece of kid's clothing needs to have a Children's Product Certificate (CPC) certifying that the product complies with applicable safety rules based on testing results that is issued by the manufacturer and importer (which would be us). Without a certificate, the clothes would be illegal to sell in the United States. The last thing we'd want to do is have to do a recall on clothes for kids because there is a potential that they could get hurt or worse because we missed a required clothing tag or the wrong fabric was used or we somehow accidentally added drawstrings.
As of right now, clothes for children is just not on the table. If there ever comes a time where we are in the place as a company that we feel comfortable creating and taking on a large project of kid's clothing, I think it would be a fabulous idea. I think kids matching their adult is fun and cute and has the chance to make some wonderful memories, but it just is not in the future at the moment for Modern Vixen Vintage to turn it into a reality. Maybe someday, just not today.
